CP 2017 BOD Candidates
Roger Starnes, 1905 Lake Shore
Living in Dallas all my life, I’d driven thru Country Place several times and thought what a great place to live. Tere and I moved here in May 1997. A few years ago, my mother, Pauline, came to live with us. We did an exhaustive search, from Garland across North Dallas to Colleyville, to find the home in which we could all “age in place” – ultimately deciding remodeling in this great neighborhood with these great neighbors was better than anywhere else in the Metroplex. We’re just finishing our remodel and hope everyone comes by to see.
I’m 59 years old. I worked my way thru college as a programmer, ultimately joining a Big 8 public accounting firm as a CPA. I joined Greyhound Lines in the late 80s as its Corporate Controller and Excel Communications in the 90s as its Financial Reporting Director. I’ve worked in multiple industries and in companies from $1M in revenues to $1.5B. I’ve served as President of The 500, Inc., an arts fund-raising organization; a participant in Leadership Plano; Treasurer of the Plano Repertory Theatre; and Board Member on Plano Youth Leadership. While I have expertise and experience with computer systems, accounting, and business, my chief skills are troubleshooting and making difficult decisions.
My family has made a future 20-year commitment to Country Place. For us, as with many here, our home is our most valuable asset. I’d like to serve on the Board to improve our neighborhood and to ensure that our homes maintain and improve their values into the future. Additionally, I have a particular passion for creating partnerships…I’d like to work with local businesses and tradespeople to create a network that our neighbors can access for high-quality goods and services at prices below market.

Why am I running for the Board?
Since retirement I have more time to invest in civic matters, and I feel an obligation (sort of “my turn” after 11 years) to serve my Country Place friends and neighbors through Board membership and leadership.

Scott Fischer, 1608 Lake Crest
My name is Scott Fischer, my wife Christine and I purchased our house at 1608 Lake Crest Lane in August of 2013 and spent 4 months renovating before moving in. We are thrilled to call Country Place our home, there is such an amazing sense of community here! We have three kids, including a set of twins. I am a Certified Financial Planner and have been running my practice here in Plano for the last twelve years. My wife actually lived in Country Place when she was growing up and when we were looking for a home to raise our kids, we fell in love with the neighborhood. I have served on the Board of Directors for Country Place the last two years as the treasurer first and then the president and I hope to continue to serve our great neighborhood!

Erika Scheibe, 2001 Lake Side
I'm Erika Scheibe and have been a Country Place resident since December 2013. Originally from Atlanta, GA, I moved to the Dallas area in 2009. I absolutely LOVE this neighborhood and am fortunate to have found such a lovely place to live and start a family. The neighbors here have made this place feel like home. I have a strong interest in serving on the activities/events committee and think I would be great at it. I've been a marketer for about 15 years and have owned my own digital marketing consulting company for the past 4. Throughout my career, I've had the opportunity to plan and organize many events - for corporations, for networking groups, and for fun. It makes me happy to bring people together and foster a great atmosphere!

I would love to be considered for the board and can't wait to see what fun events we can bring to life for the Country Place residents in 2017!

Barbara Snyder, 1616 Treehouse
I live at 1616 Treehouse Lane and also own the other side of our duplex at 1618.  We have lived here in Plano for three years, previously in Allen, but mostly in Richardson.  My husband, Chip, and I have been married 40 years.  We have three grown children who, blessedly, all live near us, two of them live with their families in Plano.  We have three grandchildren as well.

I am a retired RN, most of my career was in pediatrics, orthopedics, and neurology, my specialties, but most recently, for the last ten years of my career, I was a newborn nursery nurse.  That was quite literally a scream.  The best part of my career was, hands down, attending deliveries and watching those babies being born.

I have been retired for a year now and am thoroughly enjoying it.  I love to babysit the grandkids, sew, quilt, knit, crochet, embroider, and garden.  I also love to read and have become a recent member of the LTH Book Club. Chip and I also like to do remodeling/decorating projects around the house and at our little lakehouse in East Texas.  I love to go for walks around our beautiful neighborhood/lake and we recently adopted a black Cocker Spaniel puppy, Walter, who joyfully joins me, and sometimes, my husband Chip, on twice daily walks.  We have enjoyed meeting neighbors and making new friends through Walter the last few months.

Chip and I have always enjoyed taking Sunday drives to look at houses.  One of our dream neighborhoods has always been Country Place.  We are delighted to be here and we want to contribute to making and keeping Country Place the best neighborhood in Plano.
